How it Works
New Patient Initial Consultation – 1 hour, one-on-one session with Dr. Demmerle. During this appointment, we will review your personal health history including: childhood diseases, adult onset disorders, past injuries, physical or emotional trauma and any current or recurring symptoms causing discomfort or pain. Treatment goals will be discussed, and you will receive your first osteopathic treatment.
Follow-up or recurring appointments typically last 30 minutes.
What to expect – You will recline fully clothed on an exam table while Dr. Demmerle places both hands under the lower back and tailbone, moving upward to the mid-back and cranium. After an initial assessment, gentle manipulation will be administered.
What to wear – Patients should wear thin loose clothing, i.e. yoga pants and t-shirt, so as not to restrict movement of arms, legs or other areas of the body that will need to be treated. Jeans are not recommended. Scrubs are available for patients as needed.
Effects of treatment – While most treatments are gentle, some patients may experience a treatment response that causes them to feel sore or particularly tired for a day or so afterwards. This response is temporary and part of the overall healing process. As toxins and tension are released from the body, thus relieving pain or discomfort, the body’s immune system also readjusts which may cause these temporary symptoms. Every individual is different in the way his or her body responds to treatment and we are always happy to discuss your body’s response. For most people, whole-body healing is likely a gradual process that, over time, produces life-long benefits.
Payment and Insurance
Payment – Payment is due at the time of our office visit and may be made by check or credit card.
Insurance – Osteopathy is covered by many insurance plans and Dr. Demmerle will provide a super bill that patients may file independently for direct reimbursement. In order for Dr. Demmerle to offer personalized, quality medical care that she deems most appropriate for you, our practice does not subscribe to the terms and limitations of insurance providers. Therefore, we do not accept insurance co-pays or file insurance claims for patients. This allows the doctor to spend more time with patients and less time doing paperwork.
